Troubleshooting Audio Issues
Audio recording and playback usually work seamlessly, but occasionally browser settings can get in the way. Here is how to resolve the most common audio issues:
Cannot Record Your Name or Bio
Section titled “Cannot Record Your Name or Bio”If the recording interface is unresponsive or throws an error:
- Check Microphone Permissions: Your browser must be allowed to access your microphone.
- Chrome/Edge: Click the “Padlock” or “Tune” icon on the left side of your URL bar. Ensure “Microphone” is toggled on.
- Safari: Go to Safari Preferences > Websites > Microphone, and ensure Nouncify is set to “Allow”.
- iOS/Android: Check your device’s global Settings app to ensure your web browser has permission to use the microphone.
- Close Other Apps: Check that no other application (like Zoom, Teams, or Skype) is exclusively holding your microphone connection.
- Hardware Check: Ensure your microphone is properly plugged in and selected as the default input device in your computer’s system settings.
Cannot Hear Audio Playback
Section titled “Cannot Hear Audio Playback”If you click “Listen” but hear nothing:
- Silent Mode (iOS): If you are using an iPhone, ensure your physical “Ring/Silent” switch on the side of the device is not set to silent. iOS often blocks web audio if the phone is on silent mode.
- Volume Check: Ensure your device volume is turned up and not muted.
- Browser Autoplay Blocks: Some browsers block audio from playing automatically. You must actively click the “Play” button for the audio to start.
Still Experiencing Issues?
Section titled “Still Experiencing Issues?”If you have verified your permissions and are still encountering errors, try clearing your browser cache or attempting the recording in an “Incognito” or “Private Browsing” window to rule out conflicting browser extensions.
